MINIATURE COINS – GREAT NOVELTY ITEM
Miniature versions of U.S. coins
featuring Presidents Washington, Jefferson, Lincoln, FDR, Eisenhower, and
Kennedy! Both sides shown in photo, with
regular-size quarter for comparison.
You will receive one set of 6 mini-coins. $3 per set |
|
|
|
Occasionally when I purchase a
collection, I get odd items that I can offer here at low prices. These commemorative coins, medals and
ingots are purely novelty items and should not be regarded as
investment-quality. Only one is available for each item shown. |
|
|
|
Gold-plated Andrew Jackson ingot
Small one-ounce ingot “clad in
genuine 24 kt. gold.” Full disclosure: These types of
novelty items seem to attract collectors, but they seldom maintain the value
of the original list price. Remember
this as you buy those Obama coin sets advertised on TV! This item is “clad” in gold – it is
not made of gold. Packaging is damaged and incomplete,
but ingot is in near mint condition.
Unfortunately, we never really know what these are made of since the
private mints seldom want to highlight the fact that “clad” does not mean
“made of.” $3 |
|
|
|
Ronald Reagan silver & gold coin
This coin is apparently clad in
silver and gold. I do not know much
about it, except it comes from the same company that produced the silver
version shown below. $2 |
|
|
|
This coin, another Reagan
commemorative, comes with a certificate of authenticity saying it is
“layered” in .999 silver. Again, this coin is not entirely
composed of silver, or it would have been melted already! $2 |
|

SHELL OIL COMPANY MR. PRESIDENT COIN
GAME COINS 1970s PROMOTION $1 each Both sides shown Quarter is shown
for size comparison only. Made of aluminum; these were offered
at gas stations with fill-up. If you
got the “right” coins, you would win a prize.
William Henry Harrison - $1
Zachary Taylor - $1
Teddy Roosevelt - $1 |
|
|
|
Confession time: I campaigned for
Nixon in 1972. My high-school
girlfriend insisted he was a crook, but she never stood in front of the media
on national TV and said so. Nixon went
on TV and denied it, so who was I to believe?
Besides, she wasn’t there (although he said he wasn’t there either). This token is about the size of a
silver dollar and is made of aluminum. $1 |
|
|
|
DO YOU LIKE IKE?
This token appears to be made of
brass. Once again, the quarter is
shown for size comparison. $2 |
|
|
|
BICENTENNIAL MEDALS These medals appear to be made of
brass. They are encased in
air-tites. The obverse has a president
instrumental to the formation of the nation, and the reverse depicts an event
with which he is associated. In person, these look very good and
are near mint. The scanner does not do
them justice. Quarter is for size comparison. Both sides of medals shown; you are buying
a single coin.
John Adams - $5 Thomas Jefferson - $5 |

In
2005 Canada, the nation that invented peace, celebrated the 50th
anniversary of the end of World War 2 by issuing nickels that were
reminiscent of the wartime “V” (for victory) nickels. I am offering a set of two nickels in two
different formats – the 2005 anniversary round nickel in BU condition, and
your choice of a 1943 tombac nickel (KM #40) or 1945 plated steel coin (KM
#40a). The shaped (12-sided) coins
from the 1940s are circulated but in excellent condition. Not only is this an interesting re-use of
the old “V” artwork, but the set features father and daughter on the obverse
– George VI and Elizabeth II. $4 per
set of two.
