IMPORTANT NOTICE ABOUT SALES TAX AND

COMBINED SHIPPING WHEN PLACING MULTIPLE ORDERS

This section contains a lot of details. We believe you will better understand why sellers are compelled to adopt new rules if we explain the marketplace changes that cause the new rules.

ADDED JULY 10, 2020: clarification that sales tax will be refunded when a refund is processed on Ebay sales.  PayPal is not currently charging sales tax, so refunds for website sales on ZZZCOINS.COM do not involve sales tax or refunds of taxes.

ADDED JANUARY 13, 2021: new policies regarding U.K. VAT

EMAIL ME before completing the sale if you have any questions.  We will have options if you contact us before paying, but we will only have explanations after a sale has been processed.

COMBINED SHIPPING

These limits on refunds apply only when shipments can be combined.  We often process orders quickly and mail them to customers within hours, so a second order placed the same day may be shipped separately and will not be eligible for combined shipping refunds.

In the past, if we received multiple orders from the same buyer, each was assessed a pre-set shipping charge by the payment systems (Ebay and PayPal).  If 5 orders were placed, 5 separate shipping charges were assessed.  As a courtesy, we would combine shipping and refund most or all of the multiple shipping payments.

Now, Ebay and PayPal will no longer waive or rebate fees for sellers.  Both charge sellers for fees even if the buyer’s payment is fully or partially refunded.

For refunds unrelated to combined shipping (for example, items out of stock or order canceled), you will receive a full refund without any offset.  You may be contacted by Ebay to confirm a cancellation – please approve it.

For refunds related to combined shipping, we are forced to limit refunds in the following ways:

U.S. customers:

For Ebay purchases, 80 cents will be deducted from each refund to cover the fees.  You can avoid this by adding items to your cart and paying all at one time (Ebay).  If you do so, you will only be charged 10 cents for each additional lot.

For orders from our website (zzzcoins.com), 50 cents will be deducted from each refund to cover the fees.  You can avoid this by adding items to your cart and paying all at one time or, if you have already paid once, contact us and ask for an invoice to be sent.  We will then send an invoice that does not include added shipping so you benefit from our flat-rate shipping.  If you do so, you will only be charged the flat rate shipping rate for your entire combined order.  Otherwise, if you place three orders, one order will count as your combined shipping charge, and two other orders will result in refunds from which $1 (50 cents x 2) will be retained to offset PayPal’s fees.

For customers in any other country:

For Ebay purchases, $1.50 will be deducted from each refund to cover the fees.  You can avoid this by adding items to your cart and paying all at one time (Ebay).  If you do so, you will be charged based on total weight, which often results in no additional postage charge.

For orders from our website (zzzcoins.com), 1 dollar ($1) will be deducted from each refund to cover the fees.  You can avoid this by adding items to your cart and paying all at one time or, if you have already paid once, contact us and ask for an invoice to be sent.  We will then send an invoice that does not include added shipping.  If you do so, you will only be charged the flat rate shipping rate for your entire combined order.  Otherwise, if you place multiple orders, one order will count as your combined shipping charge, and the remaining orders will result in refunds from which $1 (per added order) will be retained to offset PayPal’s fees.

There is an additional concern for foreign orders.  Customers who place multiple orders and receive multiple partial refunds have triggered banking computers that detect money laundering operations, which has resulted in delays in processing payments and refunds.

OTHER REFUNDS

For refunds unrelated to combined shipping (for example, items out of stock or order canceled), you will receive a full refund without any offset.

SALES TAX IN THE U.S.A.

A majority of U.S. states are now imposing sales tax on certain e-commerce sales to their states.  There is still substantial uncertainty about the process.

For Ebay transactions, Ebay will automatically add the sales tax, when appropriate, to invoices.  Sellers will have no role in the process.  When buyers pay their invoices, Ebay and the payment provider will arrange to skim off the sales tax and remit it to the state.  Those sales taxes will never end up in the seller’s account, and thus you will not have to rely on the honesty of the seller to pass those payments along to your state.

For orders from our website, PayPal is not currently adding sales tax, so there is no tax to be included in a refund.

For refunds, PayPal is refunding sales tax that was paid to Ebay.

Some states charge sales tax on the shipping charge in addition to the merchandise cost.  As a result, if you are entitled to a partial refund of shipping costs (see above section on Combined Shipping), PayPal is refunding that portion of sales tax related to shipping that was paid to Ebay.

V.A.T. IN THE U.K.

For orders from our website: Starting in 2021, the British government requires sellers like us to apply for a VAT license, collect 20% tax from buyers in the U.K., and remit the tax to the government quarterly.  This represents a terrible burden on small sellers to apply for and produce a lot of paperwork.  As a result, this website can no longer accept orders for buyers with mailing addresses in the U.K.  Our mailing services have already informed us that there is no work-around (such as requiring the buyer to pay VAT to the postal authorities upon delivery).  Northern Ireland and the Isle of Man are also included in this prohibition.

For Ebay transactions: Ebay’s payment processing is handling the collection and transmittal of VAT payments, eliminating the burden otherwise placed on sellers.  Accordingly, we are able to continue selling to British & Northern Ireland customers on Ebay.

EMAIL ME before completing the sale if you have any questions.  We will have options if you contact us before paying, but we will only have explanations after a sale has been processed.
