POP-UP STORE: BASEBALL’S OPENING DAY Celebrating America’s Pastime COINS WITH BASEBALL THEMES There is nothing more beautiful to a child than a visit to the
ballpark. It’s a patriotic rite of passage. Back in the 1960s at Tiger Stadium in Detroit with my dad or
my uncles, I would walk through the compressed dank and noisy concourse, turn to go to the seats, be released from the compression to
the freedom of the outdoors, and see the most spectacularly beautiful green lawn in the
entire world: The turf: The outfield. The infield. Separated with surgical precision by the groomed dirt. |

DETROIT
TIGERS’ OLDE ENGLISH D AT GOLD COVE Roseville, Michigan Set
of 4 pressed on copper cents. Gold
Cove is a coin store north of Detroit.
Its
dies were designed by Don Cade, and include a Gold Cove logo coin and three
Detroit landmarks: the Joe Louis fist statue on Jefferson Avenue (which has
repelled a potential Canadian attack on our shores for decades), the Spirit
of Detroit statue designed by Marshall Fredericks (located outside the
Coleman A. Young Municipal Center – a/k/a city hall); and the Olde English D
(symbol of the Detroit Tigers and numerous area businesses). This
machine was added in December 2021. |

PRINCE FIELDER TOPPS BASEBALL COIN/CHIP Detroit Tigers Prince Fielder (son of Cecil Fielder) on a plastic
Topps baseball coin that looks like a simulated casino chip. Excellent condition. Both sides shown. |
MINI
WRIGLEY FIELD It’s rare that we offer something that is blatantly unpennyish (is that a word? It is now!), but we thought
Cubs fans might appreciate these souvenir packages with a small book and a
small resin replica of Wrigley Field.
The original price was $24.99, but we have some for half price -
$12.49. They are unused, but we slit open the plastic tape to
inspect and confirm that the models were intact. We have only 3 copies. No extra charge for shipping – our usual flat rate
applies to your entire order! |

CHICAGO CUBS – SPORTS

HARRY CARAY’S/ CHICAGO SPORTS MUSEM Water Tower
Place, Chicago, Illinois
The locally popular and nationally
annoying baseball announcer is credited with making Me Out to the Ballgame a
7th-inning-stretch tradition. Will
Farrell’s imitation is pretty much on-target.
Restaurants using his name and image have popped up in a couple
tourist destinations in the city. This
machine is found at Water Tower Place and features a caricature of his image,
his famous “Holy Cow!” buzz phrase, the city skyline, and “My Lucky Penny”
“Chicago Sports Museum” with a horseshoe.
A similar set of coins, with some
overlap, is found at the Harry Caray’s at Navy Pier [not available on our
website]. We have a limited number of the
Water Tower Place sets on cleaned/polished Canadian 1964 copper cents, and on
circulated wheat cents.

WILLIS
TOWER SKYDECK SET INCLUDES
CHISOX LOGO Chicago, Illinois The
Sears Tower was the tallest building in the world when it was built in 1973. Renamed
the Willis Tower in 2009, the building has an observation deck (Skydeck) that
is a major tourist attraction. All machines were reportedly
removed. We have only one machine
left, pressed on copper. During our
November 2025 visit we confirmed that there are no machines in the Skydeck area
or in the building’s lower-level and first-floor gift shops.
Machine
#8 - copper Machine
#8 (using the Pennycollector numbering system) does not dispense its own
coins. I was able to roll sets on
uncirculated copper cents. Designs:
Machine #8: I Dared to Stand Out Skydeck Ledge – 1,353 ft. UP!; Skydeck
Chicago; Mrs. O’Leary’s cow; Chicago White Sox. Pressed on uncirculated copper cents. |

Chicago skyline; Cha Cha the frog with Buckingham Fountain (this is the
fountain shown in the opening credits of the old television program Married
with Children); Nile the crocodile at Navy Pier. All

CLEVELAND
INDIANS ON OHIO
TURNPIKE ZINC COINS MILE
76 WESTBOUND (GENOA)
Designs: Wright
Brothers plane, Cleveland Indians (yes, the old name), Blue Heron (vertical),
State bird – cardinal. Only 3 sets available. These roll
short/off-center, as shown in the representative photos – and they always
have. I do not normally
carry these current Turnpike pennies due to their quality, price, and the
time necessary to roll them (these are the slowest machines I have ever
encountered). Once they sell out, I do
not expect to restock them. |

and I was only able to get 4 sets after employees allowed me into the locked
arena. Rolled on
uncirculated copper cents. Complete
set of 4 pennies, with backstamp on each.
