POP-UP STORE: PRESIDENTS DAY

Celebrating the American presidents

COINS WITH ABRAHAM LINCOLN THEMES

We’re not counting our thousands of ordinary coins that were merely pressed on Lincoln cents,

even though some Ebay sellers think that’s a worthwhile thing to add to their descriptions

ABRAHAM LINCOLN BIRTHPLACE

NATIONAL HISTORIC PARK

These two historic sites are jointly run by the Park Service and some of their gift shop offerings are interchangeable.  During our August 2023 visit the high-relief token (KY24) – new to our website – was offered only at the Birthplace.  The other token had been offered at the Birthplace in the past, but was only found at the Boyhood Home on this recent visit.

Complete set of 4 pressed on copper cents that have been cleaned and polished (an upgrade from the blemished pennies we stocked before).  You may still see the Lincoln Memorial outlined slightly on the design side.

NEW SALEM HISTORIC SITE

Petersburg/New Salem, Illinois

This is a coin from a retired single-die machine that was once found in New Salem and is now in private hands.  We were able to make arrangements with the machine’s current owner to roll these on cleaned & polished Canadian 1964 copper cents.

IL57cp   $1.79

LINCOLN HOME NATIONAL PARK TOKEN

A single token from the historic site in Springfield.  This was Lincoln’s home before he was elected president, and he is buried in a local cemetery.  The house is open for tours.

LINCOLN TOMB

Single coin from a one-die machine at the gift shop just outside the entrance to the cemetery.  Coins appear to have an oily substance, probably from machine lubrication. I have cleaned these using a dry cloth, but they have some remnants akin to fingerprints.

The coin has a backstamp “Lincoln Souvenir.”
