EPCOT JAPAN ROLLED ON JAPANESE ALUMINUM More of my
experiments with foreign coins!
One of our famous
experiments. Back when we were rolling Epcot designs on coins from the
pavilions’ source nations, we tried rolling obsolete aluminum coins on one of
the Japan machines. It generally
rolled extremely long tails, and the coins didn’t necessarily start rolling
where the guide (grab bar) told it to.
. These are rolled on
circulated Japan 5 sen coins. The sen
was a denmination that equaled 1/100 of a yen, and the 5-sen coin was 1/20 of
a yen. Hyperinflation doomed this tiny
denomination and it was retired in 1953.
There are only 3 sets in existence, and this is one of them (only one
– the one in my collection – rolled without tails). |

ASSORTMENT OF 25
What you see is what you
get – detailed photos to the right. All are zinc as dispensed
by the machines at Disney World. Sometimes those machines dispense circulated
coins, and sometimes they roll with such great pressure that the copper rubs
off and leaves a lot of unattrative zinc showing. There may be some
duplicate designs – perfect for trading!

TOKYO MONRAIL ZZZCOINS EXCLUSIVE – BLEMISHED ASSORTMENT
7 different blemished
source coins for the Tokyo Monorail coin that was our exclusive give-away
coin in 2025-2026. Rolled on copper
cent, Japanese 1 yen, nickel, dime, Chuck E Cheese token, Ecuador bimetal 100
sucres, and Mexico multi-sided 50 centavos.
All have blemishes/stains, and the dime has a sharp edge from a
rolling malfunction that seems to have taken a chunk out of the coin. |

CARS
COPPER COINS – INCOMPLETE
SETS
13 different copper
coins from the Cars sets (both the numbered set and unnumbered). This lot includes the hard-to-find Mack
coin, which was available at Oscar’s Super Service when it had a single-die
penny press. All of these were
pressed back when they were current, using uncirculated copper cents. I was never able to restock complete sets
before these coins were retired, so they have been sitting in my “in
progress” box for at least 6 or 7 years. |
MAGIC KINGDOM DALMATIANS SET
Dalmatians – 3 circulated zinc cents. These are likely the
current coins from the fire station (Presscoins #MK0186-0188). |

TEST
TRACK RETIRED BLEMISHED SET
This set from Test
Track was installed in July 2020 and retired in July 2025. Presscoins #WDW20065-20072. If
you are seeking sets in better condition, check our Epcot
page for set #EP48. |
COUNTRY
BEARS RETIRED BLEMISHED SET
This is the 2020 set,
which was retired and replaced in July 2024.
The pennies were pressed on terrible circulated zinc pennies supplied
by the machine at a time when Disney’s vendor disregarded all Disney policies
about quality and went with the cheapest way possible to restock their
machines (the only bright spot is we were also able to get a lot of
circulated copper cents from those machines).
Thankfully, the
routine use of circulated coins changed later (it still happens sometimes,
though, and recurred in January 2025). Presscoins
#WDW20057-20064. If
you are seeking sets in better condition, check our Magic Kingdom page for set #MK54. |

8 100TH ANNIVERSARY
DISNEYLAND BLANK-BACK PENNIES IN 2x2 HOLDERS
Characters (in no particular order): Nick
& Judy from Zootopia; Tiana; Belle; Moana; Wreck-It Ralph &
Vanellope; Raya; Ariel & Flounder; Mirabel & Bruno. Unlike most Disneyland pennies of recent
vintage, these were available without backstamps. This is normal for these 8 pennies (2
machines).
|
WILDERNESS
LODGE ASSORTMENT
For a while the bus
stop at the Lodge was a gathering point for orphaned machines. This assortment includes 6 pennies from
various machines that found their way to the Wilderness Lodge. The Pooh coin and Snow White were in the
hotel’s lobby; the others were at the bus stop (relocated from other
places). All are pressed on
uncirculated copper. |
STAR

Current set, still
found at Galactic Outpost. Multiple
coins are blemished, mainly with fingerprints. Presscoins WDW16045-16052. If
you are seeking sets in better condition, check our Disney
Springs page for set #DTD23. |

STAR
WARS MISCELLANEOUS ASSORTMENT FROM VARIOUS MACHINES
14 different pennies
from various locations. These are
incomplete sets, and there are a couple blemished coins (fingerprints/stains)
and some off-center pennies. All are
zinc, and some are currently available at Disney World while some are
retired. |
LADY
& THE TRAMP ORIGINAL LINE-DRAWING VERSION
The first version of
the coin showing various characters in a group shot was done as a line
drawing. A later version had a
filled-in three-dimensional depiction of the same basic design. This one is on copper
and shows signs of age/handling.

4
DATED EMPORIUM PENNIES FROM 2020
The 8-die machines at
Magic Kingdom’s Emporium typically feature 4 dated coins on one die ring, and
a standard set of 4 on a second ring. We have stripped out the standard coins
that we all have, and we are left with this set of dated coins from the 2020
version of the machine. Pressed on zinc
pennies supplied by the machine. They
are not centered very well (as seen in the photo). d34 $4

SNOW WHITE
QUARTER FROM CONTEMPORARY RESORT
Snow White retired
quarter from the Contemporary. This die
was around a long time, and Snow’s facial features are generally washed out
from the age of the die. We have multiple copies
of this particular design |
BELLE
QUARTER – ONE OF THE LAST
The Belle quarter was
one of the last remaining quarter designs at Hollywood Studios. It was placed
in the Stage 1 Company store in the Muppets area, where it was promptly
locked behind construction walls. (I
believe it started at Mickey’s of Hollywood.) This coin differs from a
prior Belle quarter (DHS0009). The placement of the Disney copyright notice
differs. Presscoins DHS0061,
rolled on uncirculated quarters. We have a few copies of this coin. |
CARS
COPPER COINS – INCOMPLETE
SETS
10 different copper
coins from the Cars sets (both the numbered set and unnumbered). This set has fewer coins than our other set
(d21), and does not include the hard-to-find Mack coin. All of these were
pressed back when they were current, using uncirculated copper cents. I was never able to restock complete sets
before these coins were being retired, so they have been sitting in my “in
progress” box for at least 6 or 7 years. |

EARLY WATERNOOSE
VERSION WITHOUT EUROLINK “e”
The first set of Monsters, Inc., pennies at Disney World lacked the Eurolink “e” at the top of the designs. Later versions had that added. This is the Waternoose coin without the
“e.” Presscoins #MGM0087 on a
circulated zinc penny. |
21 HOLLYWOOD STUDIOS COPPER CENTS
A nice set of Hollywood Studios coins. Includes a couple of the high-demand
Muppets pennies that were retired in 2025.
21 different copper cents. |
DISNEY BABIES PARTIAL SET
7 of 8 designs from the “Disney babies” machine in the Magic
Kingdom. Retired machine from Disney
Clothiers. Rolled on zinc pennies
supplied by the machine. |

HOOK ENJOYS ICE CREAM IN WHIMSICAL SET
This Peter Pan set from Disney
World has one of my favorite coins - Captain Hook eating a Mickey ice cream
bar. Sadly, that’s the coin in the
least condition. Peter Pan and Tink
are much better. All are circulated
zinc coins. |
3 BEAR IN THE BLUE HOUSE COPPER PENNIES
3 designs from the Bear in the
Big Blue House series. There were a
total of seven in the series. These
are Presscoins #MGM0082, 0085, and 0088. Rolled on copper cents – very
clean, but a little sign of age since these were rolled in 2010. j16 $12

SNOW WHITE & THE SEVERAL DWARFS (BUT NOT ALL 7)

are represented in this assortment. |

POLYNESIAN
RESORT FLAWED
SETS
I have too many sets
from an era when the Polynesian 8-die machine featuring Moana was rolling
coins off-center. This happens when
the finger guides in the machine are set off-center or too far apart (which
can allow a coin to land within an uncontrolled range of settings). Zinc pennies supplied
by the machine. |
TEAM MICKEY SET OF 4 DOWNTOWN DISNEY
Complete set of 4 rolled on circulated zinc pennies. Presscoins #DTD0050-0053. |
DISNEYLAND 2011 DATED PENNY
A single coin bore the e2011 date at Disneyland. This one’s on circulated zinc, and in
pretty good condition. Parkpennies #DL0505. |
|
WRECK-IT RALPH SLIGHTLY BLEMISHED COPPER SET
These 3 Wreck-It Ralph coins were pressed on uncirculated copper
cents, but picked up some minor staining and fingerprints during
handling. We have not attempted to
clean them. |
DISNEYLAND PIRATES OF THE CARIBBEAN SET
Set of 3 from Disneyland, rolled on circulated zinc pennies. Two are
in pretty decent condition.
Parkpennies #DL0471-0473. Photo
also shows the backstamps - you are getting 3 coins. |
CELEBRITY 5 & 10 OFF-CENTER SET
A complete set of 8, but most are off-center. A common problem with the 8-die machines,
which use two 4-die rings, is that they get the alignment right for one ring
or the other – but it seems particularly difficult to get both aligned on the
same day. Rolled on zinc cents
supplied by the machine. |
|
CAPTAIN HOOK DISNEYLAND SINGLE
Parkpennies #DL0038, an early Captain Hook penny rolled on circulated
zinc. It’s not as nice as the camera
makes it look. |
MICKEY EPCOT UK ON COPPER
Presscoins #EPC0059 – the original with Mickey wearing a hat (did you
ever notice that in the early years each country pavilion with coins featured
Mickey in a hat representing that country?). Circulated copper cent. |
COUNTY BOUNTY MICKEY
Mickey Mouse from the County Bounty set of 4. Presscoins #MK0090. Rolled in a circulated zinc penny. |
|
RAINFOREST CAFÉ 8 PENNIES + BOOK
8 circulated pennies – they have been handled and some show signs of
stains – plus a Second Edition book with a penny in the cover. The book is used and has tape residue on
the cover, but all pockets (actually slide-through tabs) are intact with no
rips or tears. Book holds 36 pennies
and 6 quarters. Since there are
variations, I have also shown the back of the book in a separate photo. |
SPLASH MOUNTAIN PARTIAL SET
First, a word of advice: Splash Mountain sets are not worth hundreds
of dollars, despite the prices that Ebay sellers pretend to charge. But they are definitely amongst the
higher-demand coins of recent vintage (surpassed at this time only by the
removed Muppets machine). This is a set of 7 from the 8-die set. These are retired, of course, and the only
problem with the set is it’s missing a coin. |
POOH BEAR – MK0002
One of the early Magic Kingdom elongated coins (although not the second
– the numbering system started when there were already several machines at
the park, so the catalog numbers aren’t exactly in order of age). Presscoins #MK0002, rolled on a circulated
zinc penny. Sorry about the fuzzy picture (no bear jokes here). The actual coin
has a nice crisp image. |
|
STARTER SETS OF 8 EMPORIUM COINS
We used to give these away with the purchase of
penny books as a starter set. They
include 8 coins from Emporium’s two machines. As individual die rings in the two machines were
switched out annually to include dated coins, the other die ring in each
stayed the same. We split the dated
coins into their own sets because nobody really wanted to buy 4 new and 4 old
coins they already had. That left us
with a lot of these undated coins that remained the same year after year. They’re still great starter sets, but we’re not
including them with books these days.
We’re offering them cheap here - $2 for a set of 8 zinc pennies
supplied by the machine. We have a lot
of sets, so yours will have the same designs shown in the picture, but the
coins will be similar condition. Multiple sets available |
22 WDW COPPER PENNIES,
SOME BLEMISHED
This assortment has 22 coins.
Almost all are retired, and all are copper. About 4 or 5 are
blemished, with stains or fingerprints.
They all have toning from age, and most date back to 2010-2018. A great starter set for the New Year’s new collectors, or maybe you
see a few you can pick through for your collection!

7 OUT OF 8 INSIDE OUT ZINC PENNIES
Why
are Inside Out pennies so hard to find? The answer is also a trivia question:
what was the first 8-die machine to be retired at Disney World? I rolled
multiple sets, but one bad penny kept me from selling this particular
grouping. When I went back to replenish my supply and roll the missing coin,
the machine was gine. Retired from the
Mouse Gear store (more trivia: the real name of the store was Mouse Gear
[singular, not plural]). This
has 7 of the 8 once-available designs. Sorry ‘bout that. y29 $15

DUFFY ON GERMAN 2-PFENNIG COIN
Remember
when we could bring our own foreign coins and roll them at Disney World? Well, I ended up rolling native coins in every
country in the World Showcase. I have
a spare Duffy coin from Germany. The
machine is retired, of course. You
can see the oak clusters on the reverse from the original coin. This was rolled on a circulated German
2-pfennig coin, which is obsolete these days.
The coin is roughly the size of a U.S. penny. |

Leaving
the Laughing Place Tribute
to Splash Mountain When Splash
Mountain’s transition was announced a couple years ago, Don Cade produced a
penny showing Br’er Rabbit leaving home. The original coins were pressed with

Parkpennies website. We have acquired a
small inventory without backstamps.
They are rolled on uncirculated copper cents. |

LIMITED EDITION DISNEYLAND COIN CELEBRATING RETURN OF TRAINS The steam trains at Disneyland were shut down for several years

penny. Parkpennies #DW0006. Produced for the “Stamps on Coins” series
of pennies that matched subjects with the U.S. Post Office’s series of stamps
highlighting the decades of the 20th century. I have 3 copies remaining. They will vary slightly from the photo
(especially the alignment of the reverse).

SCARCE
COPPER PENNIES FROM ZINC MACHINES The
newer machines at Disney are supposed to only dispense shiny zinc
pennies. Because the vendor stocked
the machines with circulated coins in 2021, though, an occasional copper cent
can be found. In theory, all 8-die
machines should be zinc-only, and all newer dies in 3- and 4-die machines
should also be zinc only. The rare
copper pennies in this section came from these supposedly zinc-only machines
and feature designs that were never available back when we could use our own
pennies in the presses. All are in
circulated condition – which often makes it easier to read the dates. I am
offering them here at substantially less than what we get in our eBay
listings.

SOFIA
COPPER PENNY FROM DHS ZINC MACHINE
Sofia, Presscoins
#WDW20111. Pressed on copper from a
machine we thought would only dispense zinc. The date 1982 is
visible on the reverse. The U.S. Mint
made 1982 pennies in both zinc and copper.
We verify all copper 1982s by weighing them (48 grains for copper, 38
for zinc) to assure we describe our coins accurately. |
WE WILL HAVE MORE COPPER PENNIES FROM ZINC
MACHINES SOON Although I sometimes make special
arrangements with store owners to roll
my copper pennies in preloaded machines, these Disney pennies (and many
others involving circulated copper coins) are the result of a vendor’s use of
circulated coins in their machines, which can mean circulated zinc or
circulated copper have a chance to make the mix. On a good day, even bad
copper can be better than shiny zinc. |

2017 DATED QUARTER DESIGNS ON UK
10p More of my experiments with
foreign coins! In 2017 I experimented with rolling quarter designs on UK 10p coins
(which are about the same size as a quarter).
I was also experimenting with dyed or painted reverses using green
spray paints I had obtained from Ray Dillard (as well other paints I bought
from hardware stores to see which worked best). On some coins (especially Chinese coins the size of pennies) the paint
did not adhere well, especially after the friction heat of the penny press
was applied. The UK quarters turned
out pretty well, though. I have a few left. On all these
photos, a typical painted reverse is shown to demonstrate the basic
concept. None of the painted reverses
match the obverse sides in the photos – they are just representative
examples. Yours will look slightly
different in most cases, and may carry a different depiction (“effigy”) of
Queen Elizabeth as I used coins from two different eras. I have only one copy each of Q114 and Q115. I have about half a dozen copies of Q113. |

2018
DATED SERIES
Donald Duck
2018 dated series quarter design rolled on a circulated British 10-pence coin
the size of a quarter. The reverse was
painted in advance to try and show some of the source coin, but the paint
flakes off and the experiment wasn’t very successful. I only
rolled about 5 of these; I have one left.
The photo shows a representative sample of what I rolled – your actual
coin will be slightly different but still well-centered. |

CIRCULATED
2015 WDW QUARTER
This quarter from the 2015 dated
series was rolled on a circulated quarter (unlike our typical quarters that

is well-aligned and would be a good addition to any collection. This Tinkerbell design is
Presscoins #DHS0114 and was from Pizza Planet (I think, from my notes, that
the machine may have been at Mickey’s of Hollywood before that). Better quarters (and pennies) from
the dated series are found on our Dated Coins page.

CAST MEMBER EXCLUSIVE 50TH ANNIVERSARY MEDALLION The price of
these has dropped since they were made available to cast members at exclusive
cast-only celebrations of Disney World’s 50th anniversary. We were able to acquire a couple extras for
resale. These are in their original
packaging; the medallions are mint condition, and the packages show only
minor wear as shown in the photos.

USED DISNEY COIN BOOKS
We have
about half a dozen of these used coin
books available. No seam splits, no
ripped pockets. A great bargain at less than 1/3 the price charged for books
today at the parks. These carry
the motto “Four Parks – One World” to remind guests that Disney World was the
entire resort area and no longer just a single park. Each holds
36 pennies and 6 quarters, and dates back to the early 2000s. We do not
recommend these books for long-term storage of coins due to the presence of
PVC in their construction. We prefer
2x2 cardboard holders that use archival-safe Mylar. Article re: Archival materials (PDF) |

WONDER MATES ASSORTMENT
Wonder Mates coins are sold by a company called Frankford
with a piece of chocolate (often a Disney theme). There have been at least a couple series of
these coins, including the 100 Years of Wonder set from 2023. This is selection is from the 2022
collection. There are 7 metal coins about 40mm diameter (1.5
inches) in brass coloring with vivid printed pictures. They stick to a magnet, so they are steel
underneath. There are 6 different
designs in this lot (2 copies of Daisy Duck).
All are in their original sealed packaging except the Mickey Mouse
coin in the upper left corner; that one is loose with its original insert. I will include packaging (7 boxes, 6 plastic inserts)
for the coins
