RED TOP MOUNTAIN STATE PARK Acworth, GA This
is another machine in the Allatoona Lake park area. The lake was formed by damming a river, and
it created numerous recreational opportunities in the area. 4 dies, pressed on copper. This machine was reportedly at the Visitor
Center but is actually found at the Trading Post (saving penny seekers a lot
of difficult mountain driving). Designs:
Vaughan Cabin; deer; rattlesnake; Bethany Bridge. |
BUC-EE’S CALHOUN TRAVEL CENTER Calhoun/Adairsville, GA This
northern Georgia Buc-ee’s has a 4-die machine; pressed on copper cents. This machine has a special place in my
heart: it’s the first Buc-ee’s machine I was able to work correctly. But to keep me from growing too confident,
many of the pennies rolled a bit short as shown in the photo. All
locations have the same designs but include the store’s location to make them
different. This location is in
northern Georgia along Interstate 75. |
TELLUS SCIENCE MUSEUM White/Cartersville, GA A
single penny from this science museum in northern Georgia. Design: dinosaur. |

BOOTH WESTERN ART MUSEUM Cartersville, GA Another
single penny machine from northern Georgia.
Design: rider on horse. |
WARNER ROBINS MUSEUM OF AVIATION Warner Robins, GA One
of the finest air museums, adjacent to Robins Air Force Base. 4 designs; these sold out a couple times in
the past, many years ago. It’s hard to
restock these because I usually roll into town on days the museum is closed
or after its closing hours. This time
I planned an overnight to be here at the right time. Designs:
P40, B1B Bomber; SR71; F15. BACK IN STOCK AFTER YEARS AWAY |

THE
GENERAL Kennesaw, Georgia One of the most famous and historic locomotives in the
nation; the Union spies who hijacked it to disable the South’s railroad
network were executed and were the first to be awarded the Medal of Honor
(posthumously). Their effort was
chronicled in the Fess Parker movie The
Great Locomotive Chase. The
original locomotive is part of the collection at the Southern Museum of Civil
War & Locomotive History in Kennesaw (formerly known as Big Shanty),
where the saboteurs began the hijacking. Design: 3/4 view of
The General under full steam. |

BUSH – KERRY 2004 set of 2 pressed pennies from the 2004
election 2 pressed pennies from the 2004
U.S. presidential campaign. Designs: "Vote Bush" with elephant
logo; "Vote Kerry" with donkey logo. These are pressed on copper coins.
I did not press these coins myself; I purchased them from another
dealer/collector. Although they are very clean, I have to characterize them
as "circulated" because they went through a bit of handling while
in the other dealer's inventory. |
